    help with speakers please....

    hello fellow vauxhall owners,

i have a 06 astra sport hatchback standard cd30, tried searching the forums but couldnt find an accurate answer to my problem.

the current headunit/speaker set up is pretty ***** to say the least. i dont want to change the headunit as it does mess up the interior a bit (just my opinion, quite like the cd30!). basically i wanted to know if i were to put in some sony 2 way coaxial, 200w etc 6.5" 17cm speakers in the front and rear replacing the existing ones, will they realistically improve the sound?

btw dont want my car to be heard from 4 streets away but just better sound quality and a bit of bass...

also would 6x9 in the boot make any difference?

i spoke to two people at two different specialist audio centres, one saying it wont make no difference what so ever without a aftermarket head unit, the other saying it will improve the sound clarity and make a noticeable difference....

    dont know who to believe

    any help is appreciated

I personally believe that if you replace the front speakers with 2 way coaxial's it's not going to improve the sound. IMO your best to replace them with compoments with the view to maybe add a amp to them at a later date. That would definatly improve the sound. Leave the rear speakers as they are

Instead of 6x9's in the back maybe think of a sub. You can get good SQ out of all this without being heard 4 streets away

    hello autosparks,

ok, so i should get a sub and a amp and forget about any speakers? will this set up be ok with the manufactures head unit?

if i do get a sub and amp, wont the output from the front and rear speakers be the same as currently?

    cheers

I'd always recomend doing the front speakers, just not with 2 way coaxial

Alot of amps these day have high level inputs so you can connect them to the front or rear speaker wires depending on what your amping
