Just driving home this morning and the engine electronics light has come on, its staying on whilst driving and everytime i start the car it stays on, does anybody know of any common faults or what this could be? Its the yellow light of the car with the vertical spanner in the centre. any help would be appreciated thanks.

Disconnect the battery for half hour, it will clear the code and light, then see if it comes back on again. if it does you need a rebuild

will they both reset and play trouble with me when i re-connect the battery?

I was joking about the rebuild part

In regards to the alarms ask Autosparks on here, he'll be able to shed some more light on that

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago when I was on Mull, light came on shortly after I filled up with petrol (£1.30/litre by the way) and I thought that was the next part of trip, into the wilds of Knoydart, screwed. Car was running fine but I wasnít prepared to take the risk of heading into seriously remote country with no mobile phone reception, however after some 40 miles or so on the drive down to Corran the light went out and stayed out Ė trip back on! It hasnít come on since, donít know what the problem was but guessing it wasnít too serious, just an awkward place for it to happen!

If the engine management light came on, it'll have stored a fault in the ECU so you'd still be able to read the fault even though the lights gone out.
