Im looking to get a boost gage for my GSi but im not sure where to put it.

Was wondering if anyone that had one could put pictures up to help me decide where to put it and also if i need a molding where i could buy one from.

    Cheers

relocate head unit to bottom DIN if u aint already done so and fit a 1/2/3 hole DIN panel (as supplied by our very own Glasgow_Stu) in the top DIN and job done.

This is the setup Ill be running once everything is sorted.... only costs about 15 quid or so delivered - best location for them IMO and a damn sight cheaper than those nasty pods that most of the time just look out of place.

Details of the panels can be found here.... http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/sh...ad.php?t=98368

How labour intensive was that mod Geoff? Even tho Im doin a 3hole DIN for now - i think both Boost & AFR in the centre vents would look 100 times better but my fibreglassing/filler skills are shite...

    It wasn't too bad Marti

Under the filler is a plastic dash top gauge pod (one of those tubular jobbies)

    so...

Strip the vent down and cut the slats out so you end up with a bare shell
Sand a couple of flats on the gauge pod, so it just fits in the vent without bulging the sides, and glue it in flush with the surface. That'll give you the basic edges to work to.
Then just get going with the filler, building it up a bit at time
After you've got the basic shape, get going with the secret weapon - A WD40 tin wrapped in W&D - just id down the centre (for the gauge hole), and vertically across the front.

Then it's just a case of sanding and checking to get it right
I find that when you think you're close to perfect, a quick dusting of primer will help highlight any surface defects, so you can sort those.

then when you're done with the shape, paint it with bumper paint - ignore the instructions and just dust it form about 2-3 foot away. give it plenty of medium coats and you'll get a grain texture to match the rest of the dash

    easy
