Hi all, first off, this is my first post! so hello to everyone! after reading around some threads and posts and whatnot, i just wanna ask a couple of questions. I have a MK4 Astra 1.6 SXI 99 V plate and i am looking to change the interior lights. I have already changed the centre console to a silver one a couple of months ago and now ive bought an LED set off ebay from CMS_Motors (or something similar) theyre flat topped and blue (and two red ones too). I basically wanna change my MFD and speedos to blue.
Last night i changed the ones in my MFD (without reading any tutorials or anything haha) and kinda messed up the LCD screen! i must of slightly pulled the ribbon cable away from the connections on the screen because only bits of it were displaying the date and time, but when i pressed the cables back down onto the part at the corner which had slightly seperated, it was working perfect again! so i used alot of bluetac and insluation tape and a piece of cardboard from a magic tree air freshner (grizzy job there i know!) to create enough pressure to keep the cable in place. But the LED's i have replaced the orange ones with arent very bright, nor are they tight fitting, so once again i had to blue tac and insulation tape the back of the fittings so that they stuck into the board and created light. one of them has since come loose so i will have to redo the gaffa tape job i think!
basically i want to ask if there is a method of fixing the LEDs and the little plastic brackets they come in, into the board properly without me having to gaffa the shizznips outta them! also are they meant to be very bright? the ones ive fitted are pretty dim during daylight, in dark conditions they look good, but you could still read the orange display in sunlight, with the blue ones you cant read nothing!
also if someone could give me advice on fitting the ones behind the speedo and the correct proceedure for taking the speedos out and stuff it would be wicked.
hopefully some of you kind people can help me out here, this is the first time ive done anything like this to my car so be gentle! (i know its a long post but )
