    Few conversion questions

    Morning all

    Got a few questions about an engine conversion for my Mk4 astra

    I have the chance of a 1.8 16v engine (115 bhp one), to replace my 1.4 16v, just want a bit more power

    First question, would the 1.4 16v gearbox, think its an F13, take the power of the 1.8 16v engine? or would it be best to get the box too?

    Second question, would I need to replace the 1.4 driveshafts? or are the splines the same?

    Third question, With regards to the ECU and stuff, would an ECU and loom be needed off the 1.8 or can I use the 1.4 ECU and loom?

    Final question! Are the starter motor, Alternator and cooling systems off a 1.8 the same as a 1.4?

    Sorry for the mammoth essay, Just want to get a better idea before shelling out really!

    You'll need the 1.8 enigne, loom and all ancilaries inc ECU.

    i wouls advice against the 115bhp conversion.
    as 115bhp can quite easily be acheived from mildly tuning your 1.4. i should know, i had a dyno proven 115bhp 1.4 16v.
    this way theres no messing about with wiring, gearboxes, takin engines out etc
    just what i think

    that was just from an exhaust, and the mantzel style powerboxes.
    i cant describe just how much an improvement the powerbox made. well the proof is there lol

    yes there is, but not a copy - so more expensive
    Total Vauxhall magazine fitted one on theor orange corsa and did a how-to feature on it

    quite a dent yes, but a whoping increase in performance.

    you could always make your own powerbox.....
