    Small but Low profile tyres?

    Evening all

I've got a spare set of astra steels in my garage, doing nothing really, and I've had a thought about putting some low profile tyres on them for some track action

But I was wondering, at the moment they are on 185/70/R14 tyres, big balloon ones If I go low profile on small steels say 185/55/R14 ( as there is very little selection below this size, it was a nightmare getting tyres this size for my old saxo ), will there be any adverse effects ie bad handling? Or will it just be the same as larger wheels with low profile tyres?

No your TC if you've got it will come on as your wheels will be spinning faster and also making the gear box gears spin faster.

Haven't got TC but the wiring is there for it I believe

With them being smaller tyres, im not going to lose handling at all am I?

Should improve handling as the smaller sidewall will mean there is less flex.

    But 55 isn't a low profile

    I thought that mate

But the cost of 195/45 R14 is quite ridiculous really! £53+ inc fitting

    185 45 R14, re-badged kumho tyres for £30 a corner
