Yesterday, I got the chance to drive all the VXR models at Thruxton race circuit! It was probably the best experience of my life. It was a VXR trackday. Totally Brillant, couldn't fault a single thing. I drove most models but by far, the best was being a passenger in a standard VXR Astra ( Nurburgring edition ) driven by Tom Onslow Cole. Another similar Astra was driven by an ex Bttc driver, Paul O'neil, who also had a passenger. They drove the cars around the circuit at such speed that I was clinging onto the door handle with such force ,my knuckles went white! It just went to how a standard road going model could handle under extreme racing conditions. At the end of that race ( only one lap ) I told Tom he drove like a nutter! He just smiled and laughed. When my nerves had settled I couldn't resist another go, but this time I passengered Paul O'neil. It was another heart stopping lap, both drivers taking the cars to their limits. I was really pumped up with adrenaline went I got out of that car. These drivers certainly know there stuff. I would love to have the chance to do it all again, so if any of you get the chance of a trackday , I'd say definately go for it. Regards Rich.
