    Zaf GSi Timing Belt

    Hello....

Looking at a Zaf GSi which the seller states with the car bearing 46k it is due a service which includes a timing belt.

My question is this, is it due at 48k? and would the car with 46k handle a 400 mile journey at motorway speeds?

Also, what costs are involved with the belt/water pump at either dealer or indi?

    Any pointers appreciated.

    Cheers

Should of been due at 40k! No problem with the 400 mile journey just needs to be done soon.

It's a few hundered quid at VX. Water pump, pre tensioners, belt.

Mine was done at 30k as I got Vx to do it all under warrenty.

I wouldn't say it could go t anytime, I think it would be fine getting it back home. I would use it as a very good bargining tool to drive the price down.

IF I did get a deal on it, I was actually thinking of traillering it up the road. Overkill?

when i was looking at my zaf gsi it had 66000miles and the belt had not been changed. the dealer changed it for me as part of the deal.

on a side note. all that was done was the timing belt. no kit or water pump and all is still well at 90000miles. i'm sure there have been pump and pulley failures on some cars but its not allways needed imo.
