    Air con question?!

Just been to a garage to have my aircon looked at and there is no power to the compressor - i hear a click when i press the button...

    Any ideas on why?

It's going back tomorrow to be looked at properly but it would be nice to have an idea!

If it;s quite a loud click your hearing from the O/S/F of the engine bay thats the clutch on the compressor clicking in........

If thats not where the clicking is coming from then it could just be a fuse, pressure sensor or coolant control module at fault

    The click is quiet...

The engine does not change note or anything, there is just no power to the plug that goes on the pump (i think it's the pump - the thing that's driven by the aux belt).

Fuses are OK, when the button is pressed even on 0 air starts flowing so the switch is doing something! I'm dropping it at the garage at 8.15 am but it's a shame i can't go there with an idea in mind to cut on fault finding time.

It's had a recent condensor if that makes any odds - before i got it though.

    Cheers

Has it been regassed and they have now found the problem?

If all fuses are ok it;s going to be a pressure sensor or coolant control module as I said above

They put some gas and dye in it but it won't hold so there is a leak but the electrical problem is the first priority..!

If the system won't hold pressure then it won't start up as it needs a certain amount of pressure to start working

Yeah that's what they have said but they put a tester on the socket onto the pump and there was no power to it. I'm just worried that it's going to take forever to find out and it'll get expensive!

With little or no pressure in the system there will be no power to it. The best they can do is manually engage it to check the clutch works then fix the leak and hopefully thats it
