    Question Replacement spring for bailey dv26 dump valve?

    Does anyone know if and where you can buy a replacement spring for the bailey dv26 dump valve?

    I think mine is giving up the ghost

    Ive got a whole (red) dv26 you can have for £30 with postage, never actually been in the car out on the road.

    not sure if it can be done on the dv26 dump valve as never had one apart but maybe the same principle of this could work:

    when i used to have a gun after a few years use of firing live rounds the launch trigger spring would weaken and not be as strong. to fix this a new spring would be needed but it was expensive so what we used to do was get a washer to size and put it down the spring compartment then put the spring back in, this made the spring tension harder as it had a tighter space to compress in

    speak to bailey they will send you one cant remember what they charged though

    Cheers for the info all. I was only looking into it as my dump valve seems to be open at idle. But it seems that this is the norm?

    Can anyone else confirm this?

    shouldnt be open at idle, will mess the mixture up as it will be a source of unmetered air

    Well i say open. It is a twin piston valve.

    Took it apart yesterday to try and figure out how it works. It seems the main piston is open but a smaller piece stays in place keeping it closed (i hope).

    Only trouble is you can't actually see the smaller piece when the dump valve is assembled.

    Do you have a Baileys valve steve?
