    battery/alternator problem (i think)

i drove my car to work this morning and everything was fine. come outta work and the battery is dead so i bumb started it and the power steering didnt work so i turned the engine of again and jump started it which made the power steering work. i then drove for about 30mins and parked up. i went back to my car an hour later and it wouldnt start. again got it jump started and drove for another 30mins before stopping and leaving it for about 20mins and then again the battery was flat. i then jump started it again and drove for 5 mins stopped and then started and it was fine (sounded sluggish) did this again and then again and seems fine.

the problem now is everytime you start it the first turnover sounds as though the battery is flat and then it sounds fine and starts and also the drivers side window doesnt go up/down by itself when you hold the button for a sec or 2 (it did on the way to work this morning)

Any ideas whats wrong? (sorry for long post )

hows the battery terminals and earth straps?

have u checked the battery voltage off/on/idle/high revs etc....

its obvioulsy either the batt/alt or both... is the battery light lit at all suggesting an alt fault?

any chance u can grab a battery off another car to see how that works?

Whats the model, engine and year

    Welcome mate

I suspect this will just be a battery problem. If it was the alternator then the power steering wouldn't work at all

The windows issue is normal btw - it's happened because of a flat battery.

I think - someone will have to confirm this:

Put the window all the way down and keep holding the button for a few secs
Put the window up and hold for a few secs

    That should reset it!
