    Question Car is water magnet??

I have been deliberating how to go about getting my polar sea blue mk4 up to scratch. Because i can't wash my car at home i have been using one of those hand car washes where someone des it for you.

A couple of weeks ago afterit had rained i noticed water was staying on my car way after it had dried on other cars. The water was beaded as you would expect, but it took a couple of hours to dry.

I thought it may be because there was no wax on the car, so when i finally decide how to detail te car i went for nxt tech wax by megs, as they claim it to be hypo???? (water fearing).

I have clayed, scratchx'd then 3 coats of nxt tech wax on a couple of panels, and i am confused over a couple of things.

Firstly, when it rained the other day i had the same problem with the water staying on the car for ages, also there was no difference with the beading effect on the panels i had treated and the ones i have not?

Secondly, after i had waxed a panel i looked at the reflections in the paint work. there was a slight rippling effect all over the panel compaired to an uwaxed panel. It was a little like the bubble effect glass you can get for bathrooms etc. it was onle very slight, but i don't know if it is connected to the water problem.

I know this thread may same realy bizzar, but i would be grateful if any one has any advice on the subject.

    Thanks
    Steve

The 'rippling' is probably overspray from a bad spray job. NXT Wax isn't a very durable wax at all and protection will last only a few days. Get a good paste wax such as Collinite or Pete's 53 to add protection aswell as enhanced gloss. Beading is a sign of good wax, but can also be a sign of bad wax. Ideally you're after a nice tight beading. trust me this is nothing to worry about, beading makes some good pictures.

    Thanks GazzTD,
I've been told nxt tech lasts a while, amazing how oppinions differ.

Will take your advice though so just been looking at halfords site http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...ategory_123051 site to see what wax paste they sell.

Is there any that you would recommend?

Dont look at the halfords site mate, take a peek at cleanyourcar.co.uk They have EVERYTHING youll need for one clean motor......

As GazTD said, collinite or petes 53 seems to be a great place to start. (both around the £20 mark) just bear in mind you get what you pay for....
