Advice req'd joining two different wire gauges

    Morning All,

I'm after some advice on joining two different gauge wires. I have run an 8 awg permenant live to the boot as a supply for my Car PC, which is triggered by an ignition feed. The premoulded connector for the Car PC PSU has 14 or 16 awg. An option to remove the PC i.e. plug/socket would be a preferable option but not essential.

What's the recommended action to create a technically sound and neat looking join?

    Thanks guys,
    Dave

I was kind of hoping for a solution with the plug/socket rather than soldering as maintenance becomes more ackward when having to de-solder.

    Thanks all the same.

Yeh, have done but the 8 awg in and the 16 awg out seems to be quite a mismatch. I'll search some more though.....

    Cheers,
