What should you do if you understeer?

    Hey guys.

Sorry i havent been around for a week, went to visit friends. Anyway.

I am wondering what happens in a front wheel drive is say i cornered to quick and started to go straight on(understeer) What should i do? I was told you just steer more and never brake? What do you do if you have experianced this.
Dont think im a fool and go round corners way to quick lol it just a simple question, its never happened to me.

    Thanks all

Arnt you meant to accelerate more to help pull you round the corner? Not really sure.

You need to find the reason for the understeer. It may be a few things. However steering harder will just cause the tyres to lose contact and you'll probably crash. Come off the accelerator, don't brake unless it's really needed. I tend to turn into the understeer, this allows the tyres to get their grip back and as you slow down you can turn into the corner again.

The best advise though is to cure the understeer, I don't suffer with it now. Get some good tyres, fit a front strut brace and rear anti roll bar and a decent set of shocks will more than likely cure the problem. Until then slow down and give the corner the respect it deserves.

don't accellerate more....the reason the front end has lost grip is because you entered a corner to fast therefore in a front wheel drive car giving it more loud pedal will result in further loss of grip.

turning in more is not the answer either because when you do get grip again you will fly off in the opoisite direction

the best thing to do is gentle lift off the accelerator and turn in slightly less once you re gain grip then you can turn in slightly more to get round the bend

as long as you are smooth with the controls and don't do the two nature things (turn in more or hit the brakes) you should be ok

give the old hand brake a quick tug and it'l kick the back end out 4 ya, but your betta off with gettin some anti roll bars and a strut, some descent low pofile and wide tyres(n wheels). or jus slow down abit.

if ya like goin sideways get urself a rear wheel drive lol
