    noob question, valve removal

    got this vxr head and want to remove valves to clean up and check, lifters are out, but am stumped.
    know stuipid question but can someone point me in right direction

    you'll need a valve spring compressor

    oh and you need to keep everything sorted and in order so you can put all the bits back in the same place you removed them from

    good luck... and remember to keep you head out the way in case it slips

    get a valve lapping tool and lapping paste while your there cos you'll need them for the rebilid

    had a stroke of luck, m8 had some compressors, so all valves out now, and they clean as hell, ickle bit of coking round bottom, but nuffin really, whats best way 2 clean them up?

    stick the valve stem in a drill and clean the bottom of the valve up with emery cloth

    I hope you know which exact bit came from where - you'll need to put each component back exactly in the place it came from or it it'll just induce greater wear when you rebuild it

    yeah, each one came out and i marked them according, each have a dab of colour paint from kids painting set,lol so no where each one goes

    but am thinking of getting new vsalves etc anyway,saves all this cleaning malarky,lol

    update:
    valves out and making a start on cleaning up, although its very clean, well only dun 9k



    and yes they all marked,b4 u ask again

    Your wasting your time buying new valves if theres nothing wrong with the ones that came out as new valves will still need lapped in

    pretty much all done now,all carbon removed,valves cleaned,lifters in oil waiting,

    all cleaned,, got me lapping stick and grinding paste
    will do that 2moz, as cleaning it knackered me,lolol
