    Alarm trouble when disconnecting battery

Hi, i'm trying to do a gearbox oil change on my Astra GSi, to do this i need to remove the battery and tray. When i try to disconnect the battery the alarm just goes of and the key then won't work to shut it up until i put the terminal back on.

I'm sure there is a way of doing it, anybody know what it is?

    Thanks

    Switch the ignition on
Loosen battery terminal, but do not remove
    Switch ignition off
Disconnect battery withing 10secs, and the alarm won't go off
