    Thumbs Up Replacement for E65

My 12 months is coming up and I am going to start looking for a new phone soon. I currently have the Nokia E65, which has been the best phone I have ever had! Its only recently started to lose battery life quicker and plays up now and again.

For me to not break a phone for 10/11 months is a miracle and it is indeed the first phone I have not destroyed in 15 years

so what do aI get as a replacement? Whats replaced the E65 anyone know? I am thinking a BlackBerry Pearl but the roller ball worries me with the fibers, dust and general crap I deal with on a daily basis.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I would 98% prefer a nokia, but would consider others if they are a good phone.

    Main criteria:

    Phone
    Email
    Internet
    Alarm
    Calculator
    Calender
    Wifi - would be nice.

Needs to be strong and reliable 100% no touch screen.

Not fused on music, video, photos etc I have a camera and an MP3 player that fulfill those needs

    Cheers for any gen!

Well all mobiles have a phone

Most have a callender, calculator and alarm too.

Email & Internet, well all new ones have WAP or some form of it, a few of the higher up models have a proper browser.

As for email, are u meaning a mobile that can access your Hotmail or something like a Blackberry that can connect to your works network for email etc?

Oh yea and it seems you want something basic (Not fussed over camera, video camera etc) so perhaps something like a Nokia 6300 or N73? Older phones but not flashy and do the job u want.

well done for pointing out the obvious Scott!

most do have calender, calculator and alarm - I have to have them

WAP has been around for years yes - but now we have proper browsers so yes thats what I want

Email yes all can email - but I want one that can push emails to me and I can email back

IE the same as the E65 but the newer version or a similar capable phone

N95 has far to much crap on it and is too big and bulky plus I would break it in seconds.... Nice phone but just not for me, I need a buisness phone not a fashion accessory full of gimics you never really use (unless you are 15-21 year old).

I dont feel the need to walk down the road listening to RnB, whilst taking pictures of my mates kicking someones head in, and then sending it to you tube

    nokia 6500 slide?

i got one (gave it to the OH half as i got a n95....and im 22 although i dont use anything it does but was free so couldnt resist) but the 6500 is good, very very solid phone much stronger than the n95, is metal and cant see it break easily and has everything you listed,

    worth a look

I like the 6500 Andy but it hasnt got Wifi - which has come in handy in the past on a fair few occasions. Shame because it does look robust

I was trying to come up with a smart answer to that, but I'm tired and my brain has shut down

Like Andy says the 6500 is a solid phone. Do none of the other N series phones appeal? My future bro in law has the Communicator, which seems a fairly business oriented phone. Albeit a bit on the bulky side.

so you want wifi aswell, that limits it alot,

may make a difference what network your on as alot of phones are limited to a certain network,

wifi is good but personally just normal wap (on vodafone) is fast enough on my N95, loads most pages in no more than a few seconds,

if you really want wifi you'll be limited to just a few phones on each network i would have thought?
