Pics of lowering on standard wheels!

I want to lower the SRi but, i want to keep the standard 16's.

I don't want it silly low - just nice looks and good performance.

Any pics of this done - whats the best amount to lower it as its already 20mm? lower being an SRi. Good brands of springs and shocks, time it should take to fit etc.

    Cheers guys.

I dun have a pic of hatch lowered on standard, but 40mm all round would look nice.

If you just change springs will take 1-2 hours,

Shouldn't i replace the shocks too? I know it might be OK for a bit on standards but i don't want to have to change them down the line!

Whats a good manufacturer of spring/shock sets?

Iv always said whats the point in changing shocks, and still do say tht.

My car (coupe) = 40mm lowered, no problems

2 of me mates (coupes) = 60mm lowered, no probs,

Old cars, both mine and mates hatch lowered 60mm, no prob.

These where all on GMax springs, ppl say there s*** and all this, but we can honestly say never had one problem with them.

The point of changing the shocks is that you'll be asking them to work harder, over a shorter distance, about a centroid that they were not designed to do, which will shorten their life.

Spring and shocks should be matched so they do what they are designed to do, which is keep the wheels in contact with the ground at all times and maintain the correct suspension geometry. Sticking shorter/harder springs on OE shock will compromise that.

...and going as low as 60mm is starting to get near the point where you'll be affecting the suspension geometry, ie castor, camber (adjustable tho) and steering axis inclination.

Suspension is science, and that why some cars handle well and some don't

This is the kit I was recommended by Courtenays

    http://www.courtenaysport.co.uk/inde...d&productId=94

"Our Premium Suspension Kit for these models uses premium Bilstein dampers and Eibach Pro-Kit springs for the best fast road set up."

£525 is a bit steep mind...

Ffoeg, mountain of knowledge you are! What is the best drop to give better looks without compromising handling?

Id say 30-40mm on springs, looks nice, better handling, and your shocks will cope with it.

I know they're cheap but LMF have never let me down and don't usually compromise on quality...

Other than that are there anmy suggestions and links?

Is this gonna look OK on standard alloys?

Also - some kits lower more at the front or rear - why is this?
