Seems as Hev Posted up the detail i did on her GSI, thought i would also share the detail i did on my own car a few weeks back....
(has been copied and pasted from another site)
6 weeks ago i picked up my Astra Estate XP 1.9CDTI
in the best colour.... White! Options include full leather, climate, AFL,
Cruise, keyless entry and CDC 40. I told the rest of the valeters i didnt want
it cleaning as i was going to do it at home (i wrok for a Vaux dearlership) and only i was to touch it - so the day
before collection i removed all the stickers and cleaned all the windows, plan being
i would detail it the next day after collection..... It didnt go to plan! 6 weeks have
passed and the car was getting more filthy by the day and was still covered
in delivery wax and fallout - the weather being so crap didnt help either!
So after a early rise this morning and a forecast of sun it was time to give the
estate the much needed detail....
Please excuse lack of pics, but when i get into it i dont have time!
So we start with the 'Before' Pics! And yes im deeply ashamed :crybaby:
Started on the arches using APC and super degreaser, left to work its way in then jetwashed out.
Then it was onto the wheels - caked in brakedust and delivery wax!
Using APC & WB with swissvax/megs brushes got rid of most of the dirt, but that wax was staying put.
I had a backup plan however in the name of 'Tardis' a tar and glue remover we
use at work - fetched the wax straight off! Wheels were then rinsed down again.
I then went around the bottom half of the car with Megs Super degreaser and left it to work
while i mixed up my snowfoam, with todays choice of shampoo being CG Citrus wash & Gloss.
Car was foamed and left for 10 mins to dwell before being rinsed off.
Washed using 2 bucket method with a 'ShMitt' and again CG CW&G.
Must say it was my first time using the 'ShMitt' and i was really impressed - held lots of suds
and shifted the grime away easily - will be using it again!
After rinsing the car off again i set to claying the entire car, but instead of my
usual Sonus green i decided to try some Polyclay from cleanyourcar, as always with
my usual lube of Z***l Autowash & water.
Clay needed a bit of warming up first as it was quite firm to start with, but it shifted
the fallout on the roof/bonnet & tar from the lower half of the car no problems.
Clay bar after whole car
Rinsed car down, washed again with 2 bucket method, final rinse ready to be dryed.
Car was dryed with a Sonus Der wunder drying towel and Megs last touch.
Then i removed the huge Vaux 'Dinner plate' from the rear along with a few more unwanted badges
After looking round the car and spotting only a few light defects on the bonnet i decided
on a sonus FX2 Pad and Menz Intensive Polish 85RD3.02
followed by some Menz Final finish PO85RD (again on a FX2)
As i knew already what wax i would be using i thought it would be only natural
to use DODO 'Lime prime' applied with a sonus der wunder applicator pad - then buffed off with a microfibre
The next step was out of curiousity - then impulse! not sure if it was the right thing to do
or not but i liked the results. i applyed CG's EZ Glaze just to see what it would
do on white - it added gloss and a very 'wet' look.
Applyed with a foam applicator pad panel at a time and buffed with a microfibre.
Onto the wax! DW DODO 'Double'
which consists of 2 pots - one being a hard wax (Spearmint) which i applyed first with
a Applicator pad and left to cure for 10 mins before buffing off with a microfibre.
In a ideal world i would have put the car in the garage and applied the 2nd wax the
next day.... But this isnt a ideal world! So i decided to leave it 90 mins - in the meantime i cleaned
the windows inside & out with AG Fastglass and a microfibre, Waxed the doorshuts with
Collinite 476, and Polished the chrome with megs NXT metal polish.
Then it was time for the 2nd wax! this ones a soft wax (Peppermint) applied by hand
and left to cure for 15 mins while i had a well deserved gaff and Irn Bru!
Wax buffed off with a microfibre then tyres dressed with CG's new look trim gel.
To finish off i decided to give the whole car a quick wipe off with Sonus Acrylic Spritz
And here are the results! White is SEX
