    RoyalMail question

I bought something from Ebay and had it posted to a friend of mine in London, because the seller wouldn't post to Greece (where I am). The parcel is expected this Monday (Special Delivery), but my friend told me that he won't be able to receive it, because he works everyday from Monday to Friday, so he will get a notification and will have to go get it himself.

I have a couple of questions:

-Untill what hour can he get the parcel from the post office, after he receives the notification? Can he also get it the afternoon after his work?
-Up to how many days from the day of receiving the notification must he take the parcel from the post office?
-Can he re-arrange a re-delivery at a morning hour, before leaving for his work (for example 7.30am)?

I hope there a solution for this, because I m worried about the parcel returning to its sender, which means I will never see it myself .

    Any ideas?

He should be able to pick it up from the depot 4 hrs after the time on the notification. The normally hold it for 21 days before returning it to the sender.

He can rearrange for re-delivery by calling the depot, but I don't think you can arrange a specific time.

Can he pick it up afternoon hours as well? For example 6pm? What about Saturdays?

The sorting offices where the parcel needs to be collected from usually closes early so before your friend finishes work but can be open as early as 7am. Unfortunatly royal mail won't do a delivery before a certain time

Saturday collection is fine up till midday at my local sorting office

Our local depot does collections between 7am and 6pm, it might vary at other depots

The problem is that he works everyday 8-5, and the post office may be closed after 5 . He had told me he would get it this Saturday, but it seems he is not able to because something came up!

I guess the only solutions are the following:

-Re-arrange the delivery for an early hour that he will be at home, sth like 7.30am, if this can be done so early.

-Have someone else to get the packet for him, from the post office. I think someone else can do it as long as he has the receiver's ID with him, right?

Well... sometimes on the odd occasion, things just fall into place at the right time and you get a result!

Although as most Brits will tell you, it's a rarity where our postal service is concerned!

EDIT, incidentally, your Astra is the same colour as my Zaf! Looks lovely when it sparkles in the sun doesn't it
