Gear stick not springing back ?

Hi, my gear stick seems to have broke the spring thingy.
It can be a pain in the arse changing gear when driving.
Has anyone had theres repaired, and how much was it?

I had this problem when i bought my car, the guy said to me who i bought it from that it just happened. I got it checked by my local garage and it was just the cables were loose but shouldnt effect it. Then again bout 7-8 month down the line my secnond gear went and it kept jumping out of gear so had to get a new gearbox. I doubt it had anything to do with it though but i was concerned.
