under bonnet - what is this?

ok, i know this is a stupid question and that ill get shit for it but what is this part and what does it do?

im relativley new to the astra turbo scene and out of every pic of engine bays ive seen on here none of them seem to have this in them, just a pipe running straight up to the back.
i ask because i was thinkin of replacing it with stainless or silicone pipe.
    cheers.

Its the MK5 Astra VXR boost pipe as they have the boost sensor in that where as the other cars have it on the intercooler neck outlet.
The truth is always the truth even if you haven't realised it yet...

No it won't be for a boost gauge. Are you running and aftermarket intercooler, like a front mounted one for instance?

Because that sensor normally fits into the OE intercooler, but if its been swapped for an aftermarket one it won't have the fitting for it. So the MK5 pipe has been used instead.

See on my engine, you can just see it fitted before the blue pipe, that is what it looks like on standard intercooler set-up.

ok cool, thanks for the help. i might try and move it back down the line toward intercooler so its hidden a bit better.
buckle, where did u get the blue pipe that runs from intercooler to engine from? it looks sweet. silicon or alloy?
