    Information Needed Crankshaft Sensor

I did a paper clip test today on my astra 1.8 16v sxi sport year 2000.
Ity happens that the crankshaft sensor is at fault.
can anyone tell me what this does and how it would cause a fault with a car. mine just has trouble starting when warm so not sure if to believe it or not

The crankshaft sensor is the timing pick up, lets the ecu know when to provide spark/fuel etc, they are common, so if thats the code your getting up i would go with it
