Yesterday i went on my first track day at Lydden hill just outside Canterbury. It was an absolutely amazing day, fantastic weather, fantastic cars, and a short but brilliant fun track to drive.
The main purpose of the day was for my dad and his business partner to try out their new purchase on the track.... a tuned 1.8 zetec westfield putting out 175BHP at the wheels so works out at about 300 BHP per tonne. So 4 of us went down, my astra (which i didnt track cos i wanted to try out the westfield and it was £10 for an additional driver on the westfield or £120 to add my car), lotus elise se2, saber and the westfield.
Saber - A fantasticly beautiful car restored by my dads business partner
Some of the other cars present:
Really fast race spec seat leon (really love the look of these cars)
And a classic mk1 escort
There were some other lovely cars but i dint get pics of them.
On the track the westfield was brilliant, i had never driven the car before and i was shocked at how fast it was and how fast it could go round corners, absolutely amazing
The whole day was brillant, and one of the great things was the atmosphere in the paddock, every one was so friendly and chatting to each other. A brilliant day which i would recommend to anyone who hasnt done one, but dont be surprised if you need a new set of tires afterwards
