    Starting Problems with Astra MK5

    Hiya

    I have a 2006 1.6 sxi astra sport.

I seem to be having a few problems starting it, it seems ok first thing in the morning when i go to work. But if i go home park up and then go out again say after about 10 minutes it really struggles to tick over and sounds like its not going to start.

Its recently had a service and the spark plugs were changed.

Its still under warranty with Vauxhall.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

    Thanks, Sarah

Its got to be about 2 months ago when i had it serviced. When they did it they told me the people who had previously serviced it had used the wrong spark plugs so they had changed them to the right ones...but i dont know if thats anything to do with it.

    I wouldn't of thought so.

My car does this occasionally. I'm not sure what to suggest as I cannot see anything obvious that maybe wrong. Perhaps try changing the engine coolant temperature sensor to see if that is the culprit? The sensor would only cost about £10ish but its worth a try. Can't see it being anything other than that to be honest.

If your taking it into Vauxhall I'd expect a "no fault found" scenario as they're quite good at that .

Hope this helps a little bit.

Just a thought, but seeing as though this has started happening since the service, maybe they thought it had the wrong ones, but actually it had the right ones and they replaced it with the wrong ones!!

Could be the CIM going...guy I used to work with had similar trouble with his 1.6 SXi. Dealer replaced the CIM and Robert is your mother's brother.
