New astra - squeaking timing belt???

Hope this is the right place for my question.

I have a new Opel Astra GTC 1.6. I have had it only a couple of months and quite recently there has been a squeak/wail coming from the engine after driving for a while. Revving doesn't clear it. i can hear it driving the car or from outside. I thought it was coming from the timing belt and i brought it to an opel dealer. The service guy had a look, went back inside, got a can of spray and sprayed the belt. He told me that was all and sent me off on my way. It didn't fix it.

I brought it back and they changed the belt. I was told it had expanded when it was waiting to be shipped and so it was slipping. ok, maybe.

Picking up the car, i turned it on and it squealed even louder! Continuously now. The garage still has my car since they don't work weekends. Does anyone have an idea what's causing this???

It sounds very much like the pulley on the alternator, if you have the free wheel type from bosch. They do fail like mine did, the only fix is a new one or change it to a solid roller as i did, quiet as a mouse now.

I had a new alternator fitted, and at first there was some squeking and noise, but its gone now. But yer if its coming from the drivers side, then its prob the alternator
