    Internet Explore 7...Annoying Problem

    Hi Guys,

got a very annoying problem with IE7.

bassically my address bar doesn't work
to view ANY website i have had to set google as my home page and then google search for the website.
if i type the address into the address bar and press enter or click go it just does nothing

i have deleted all the history, cookies and temp files but still no joy.

any one got an idea what i have done? or how i can get the address bar functioning again

It actually does nothing, or it just brings up a blank page or can't find the page?

    it does nothing

the entered address just stays there.
it makes no attempt to load the entered page.

refresh just goes back to the home clearing the entered address

Have you tried downloading it again from MS site and reinstalling it?

Personal thought? Sounds like a spyware or adware infection - this would be resetting your homepage etc and taking over any search functions. Manually setting Google as described will change things until the infection realises you changed things and sets it back.

Do you have any up to date AV and SpyWare protection installed? I'd run a full scan of both. If you need something then check out:

AV - Search for AVG Free or Avast (both have free versions)
SpyWare - Microsoft AntiSpyware is pretty good, also could check out AdAware and SpyBot Search & Destroy aswell

    Try this:
    In internet explorer
Go to tools > options > click the advanced tab > click reset > then click reset again.
