    mayonaise

    checking my oil the other day on my astra g 1.6 noticed a very small build up of mayo on the dipstick checked all the usual avenues i.e its no using water no boil up either so concluded it could not be head gasket anybody any ideas

    p.s its the xep engine

    only kidding, if you do alot fo short journeys can cause this.

    i do short journeys and get exactly the same and have done for 7mths and that was when i got the car its common on the 8valves especially

    if its an 1.6 8v it is more common for the mayo, plus all the short journeys is just adding to it

    Best cleaning all the breather pipes as they tend to get clogged with the stuff, As already said it is supposedly common on the 8v, Shouldnt cause any real problems tho as long as there cleaned once in a while.

    Clogged breather happens on the 1.9CDTi 16v too. I had my pipe off when I was fitting other stuff, and it was chock full of gunge. Not bad for a car that spends most of it's life on the motorway...
