    Remap?

Just because i seen it around here, can any Astra be remapped?

Mine is MK5 sxi December 07. 1.4 petrol.

    Can that get a remap?
As i usually only see diesels and top model astra's being talkedd about get remaps and stuff.

just wondering what can and what can't.

any can be remaped but the gain that will be made will differ, est looking on www.regal-shop.co.uk or www.superchips.co.uk etc and checking what gains you could get,

regal says you need to call them for info but they do it, superchips says (all will be quite similar) 5bhp increase for £295, so personally i wouldnt bother, 5bhp isnt worth the hassel,

Remapping alters the way the engine behaves. It can add bhp and torque but can also improve how the engine responds and improve flat spots in the rev range etc. The above sites should help explain things.

Depends though, the improved responsiveness of a remapped engine could be worthwhile in itself.

    maybe it could.

Guess its just a question of remap that might/might not have much effect.
or doing something to look of the car if i were to decide to spend money on it.

It may only be a 5bhp peak figure but you may gain more bhp mid range. say at 3000rpm it used to be 50bhp now it could be 65bhp but when it gets to 6000rpm the peak bhp used to be 100bhp now its 105bhp
    see what i mean?

And it may only be 5bhp overall but add in 5bhp from sorting your air intake and 5bhp from a decent catback system and you're looking more like 10-15bhp overall.
