    Ouch!

Just rang Autosounds to see how much it would be for them to install sound deadening into the front doors, and to install and wire up an amp.

They wanted £25 per door just for the sound deadening - that's on top of the cost to actually buy the stuff (£10 a roll)!

Then they wanted £55 to install the wiring kit!

So already that would be £105 for just an installation fee!!

    Guess I'm doing it myself!

    //rant mode off...

Have you guys got any tips for a newbie?

I've got SPL Dynamics 6.2 components in the front, and I'm looking to get a 4ch amp to power them and sub (which I'll buy in the near future).

    Thanks!

    Just a few basics:-

-Make sure your Negative battery lead is disconnected at all times to avoid, shorting out and popping expensive Fuses
-Make sure your Earth connection for your amplifier is good, IE bare metal, this will stop amps going into protection mode due to bad earth

As for an amp, are you on a budget at all? If you are on a cheap one...

That amplifier gives a good output, you can run it in Tri mode, Ie you can power your front door speakers with a good 104 watts RMS and later if you want a sub, it'll feed it 284 watts RMS The people on talkaudio.co.uk always recommend JBL GTO amps if on a budget

    Wow thanks Tom!!

    That's really helpful mate

Yeah, I am on a budget, a very tight one. That amp looks ideal for me.

    Thanks for the headsup!

Where would you recommend I put the earth wire? At the back near the factory standard one?

Also, if I buy say that amp, am I able to install everything except the sub for now? So leave the wiring in there in preparation for the sub? Or would that be dangerous? Jsut coz I can't afford to get the sub as well atm.

Oh, and I take it you can turn down the amp? It's just that the components I have are only rated for 80W RMS.

One last question, is this a good wiring kit?

    Thanks!

    Hey

I've put the earth wire on the screw behind the light cluster as shown here

As for the amp mate, Don't have the gain set so high, and don't drive them so they are screaming

The wiring kit you have posted is fine, providing it is true 4 AWG

Everything you need will be in that kit I think

And as for the wiring in place for the sub, I'd just leave them out until you are ready to install it, as they may touch and short out
