    Pete's 53 foam applicator

Just got through my Pete's 53 wax and i am looking forward to using it. However it came with a very large foam applicator which to me looks too large as you can only get a small part of it in the tub and also the foam feels too hard to be used directly on the car so can the pad be softened with water or qd first??

What kind of applicator pad do others use for wax?

Second question is that I was bought an AG kit for christmas it came with a large stockinette roll (AG perfect polishing cloth type thing but not exactly) and i as wondering if that would be ok to remove wax with?

    Thank you!

I normally just use the Meguires foam applicator for applying wax. Read the instructions on the Pete's53, as on the Poorboys wax i'm pretty sure it says to damp the pad before using it (I know I have read that somewhere lol)

Not sure what the AG cloth is like, I just use mircofibre towels for removing and buffing the wax.

The AG cloth will be fine. I've just got 3 more shagpile towels as I'm really liking them at the moment, but even microfibres will do the job.

I use £1 applicators from www.cleanyourcar.co.uk and they work fine, you can spray the pad with QD if you like, but the one I have for my Dodo Juice Doublewax is firmer than the rest but it works just fine.

It has been know before to apply Pete's 53 with you hands, just scoop some out of the pot, warm it in your hands and spread on the car, leave it for 10-20 minutes to cure then buff off.

thanks guys. there were no instructions in the box from cyc that had the pete's53 in it so just checked the CG site and there is no mention of wetting the foam applicator. Just nervous about waxing the car as it will be the first time i have done it.

Was looking at getting the Eurow shagpile mf's but think i will go through the roll i was bought first.

Thank you once again for the answers.

I would stay away from the stockinette, plush M/F cloths for removing wax/polish

    Gaz- sorry should have said!

Think I should buy some shares in CYC as I am going to get some of the Eurow towels and a few £1 wax applicators.

One final question is it better to apply wax in a straight line or small circles?

    Thank you everyone
