    Astra mk4 Track Car

Ive got a high powered 2.0 XE (250-260bhp), thinking of sticking it in a stripped out mk4 Astra

    Interested to know...

how light i could make one of these?

suppliers of lightweight panels, polycarbs, cage etc?

whos making pukka suspension for the mk4?

Ive got thoughts to start with an early 3 door shell and stick it on a big diet!

its never going to be as light as a nova or tigra. but deffo would be something different! and worth it id assume.

early coupes are getting very cheap now too, so maybe that'd be a better option!?

take a look at the btcc coupe for inspiration on weight saving

Cages and poly windows are avalible off the shelf, either bolt ot weld in. A lot of weight can be lost since your going back to basics and handling could be well improved with upper on lower front strut braces and rear anti roll bar, again all off the shelf.

I personally rate Koni suspension I have had both variants coil overs and adjustable dampers. unless your bothered about ride height, I would save money and go for the dampening adjustable shocks and springs. I currently have this on my vectra Gsi

    nice find elgan!

body work looks to stunning to want to thrash round a track though.

interior has lots of potential. just needs a tidy-up

Regal had a trick rear suspension set up they were plugging on here a while ago, can't seem to find it on their website though.

It's worth fitting Whiteline anti roll bars to the front and back on a mk4, they definitely tighten up the handling
