    Bikes (buying advice needed)

I have just started cycling to work, gym and back again every day (I really am on a get fit drive!!). I bought my old bike back from my parents but its a little iffy and too small for me, so

I am thinking of getting a new bike.

It needs to be 22" or 23" frame (i am 6ft3)
    My budget is under £170
It needs to be sturdy as it will get left outside each day at work whatever the weather

    I have found this
    http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/pr...lder_Bike_2007

or this (not sure what size the XL frame is in inches tho) http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/pr...post_Bike_2007

Any suggestions or advice most welcome

Most things in that price bracket arent going to differ much, best bet is to swing a leg over and see what feels best, especially at 6'3".

"Pedals: resin, antislip" ha ha ha ha.. deadly, my shins are a right state from growing up with those things. Anyway, are you going to go off road with it? I'm mountain bikes all the way but for road only a skinny tyred ridged would be quicker, easier to pedal and more fun

What happens if i spend less and got something like

    http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/pr...tion_Bike_2007

    would i notice a difference?

I have looked at the road bikes but they are more expensive and i am only really using it for about 8 miles a day.

    Hi Mate,

I work in a bike shop near Reading. Out of the bikes you have shown I would go with the Giant. One thing to note though, they retail at £165 not £199 like it says and it is a 2007 model. So really you could get an up to date version for £5 more from a reputable bike shop that doesn't lie about retail prices.

You can see the list price all over the web for example:

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetai...dID=5360030049

Have you looked at any hybrids? Like these:

    http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/id38410.html

    Or:

    https://sslrelay.com/s96379727.onean...Dsmoke%252F07b

You should find one of the above in your price range.
