Question Astra 2.0CD Di 16v - poor starting

Recently had new fuel pump fitted. XDTL engine. Starts but dies after few secs. Needs 20 secs of turning to fire again. Then runs fine. Is it air and where is it likely to be getting in? Used to start instantly in all weather.

sounds like it could be from the fuel filter, if this has not been changed recently the seal may have perished and thus when the cars not in use allow air to seep into the system. The turning over that you describe is likely to be required for the air to work its way through. Also check your glow plug relay, if this is dodgy then it will be causing problems sending current to your plugs. Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

Thanks guys. Sorry for delay in replying. Been on hols. Local garage tried your suggestions to no avail. Was suggested it might be injector seals which could be tested for at Vauxhaull agent. Took it to injection specialist LSUK (Lucas) who fitted one-way valve in fuel pipe. Sorted!
