got to spend the day driving the astra today

i was supprised at how easy it was to just jump straight in and drive

although the lack of braking perfomance was very apparent at the first junction but soon got used to that

still comfortable on the motorway my only complaint being that 70MPH is at nearly 3.5K RPM but it does mean it can still pull out and accellerating to 80 when over taking reasonably quickly (TBH due to turbo lag i don't think there is much between the cars 70 to 80 if the subaru is in 6th )

forgot how usefull cruise control is as well

all in all i think the MK4 is a great little car and it even still got some very good comments for being smartly/tastfully modded

and the best bit i got over 40MPG and no one tried to race me or goating me to put my foot down

don't know why i'm telling everyone but hay its astra related and means we will still be keeping the astra for a while longer

Did you retro fit the Cruise Control to the 1.6?

I think I've seen your Scooby driving past my house a couple of times as well (and heard it )

nope came from the factory with cruise control, trip computer and standard alarm

where abouts in sheff are you?
scooby aint no where near as loud as it was when i first got it, the back box that was fitted before was stupidly loud (around 108dB) so i put the standard one back on

used to drive that road very regular especially last year when the road works where on the M1.

Dont tend to drive down there as much now so you won't be woken by my loud exhaust

Intresting evaluation of the Astra Chris. Cause i have exactly the same opinion of my 1.8SRi

I've missed driving the Lotus Carlton over winter (i knew i would)

However, driving my Astra STILL puts a big grin on my face.
I've just got out of trying to drop the Astra into 6th! Just in time for the LC to come back out to play (MOT Saturday, Taxed ready for April)

enjoy getting the LC back on the road
