ive got a 1.6 and they are quite nippy though they weigh loads and are quite slow from start. Dont think theres much between the styling though wish i had a 1.8 as you get 5 stud wheels. The other mods can be added as and when you want really. I average around 40mpg in mine though thats takin it easy.

"Nippy" is the delusional word for "painfully slow". 1.2 Clios are "nippy", 1 litre Micras are "nippy". Sorry, pet hate of mine.

The 1.6 SXi is good in that they're group 4 or 5 insurance, and do go reasonably well. As long as you don't expect to be able to burn people off the lights or do overtaking maneuvers that would make Michael Shumacher cringe, the 1.6 is fine.

The SRi is higher insurance groups, you don't really get much more equipment, and the 1.8 isn't really much faster but is harder on fuel.

For 5 mins a day, do 40 miles a day to and from work mostly on 60mph roads. I very rarely hammer the car and just take it steady never really go over 55 because of traffic. Though when i hit the motorway sometimes give it a poke depends what day i have had, lol 40 is being generous usually hit 43-44mpg but ust said 40 as average

Once ya get goin in the 1.6 its not bad did say that it was verrrrrrrrry slow from a standing start as it weighs more than a aeroplane, lol. End of the day its only a 1.6 which does ok.

Go for the 1.8 mate, I've got a 1.6 and I wish I'd held out for a cheaper 1.8 to make up for the extra insurance.
Watch who's comin' at you! Why? Who's got the power?
