    Magnex decat for 1.9CDTi

Just for those who wondered what these babies look like. Replaces the precat, and bolts straight on to the standard exhaust.

For sense of scale, the pipe is exactly the same bore as a Coke can (2.5"). Build quality is pretty good, though it'd have been nice if they ground down the welds a bit more.

Price is about £180 or so (depends where you get it), gains I'd recon are about 5hp - I'll know better in the next few weeks when I go get the car remapped.

It's also supposed help the engine rev freer as it's removing the precat which is a restriction right at the turbo outlet. The key to exhausts on turbo-diesels is get any restriction as far away from the turbo as possible.

Got this fitted this morning. Just under 3 hours to get it done, had to take pretty much the whole front off the car - 2 fans, slam panel, intercooler pipes (3 off), airbox scoop, dipstick, and a few other minor bits and bobs.

Also discovered the aircon radiator was damaged during installation at the factory. Seems they "forgot" to fit the external fan so bent the rad in to get the fan installed, breaking the bottom panel off the rad. Aircon still works, but the fan is now held on with cable ties.

Engine runs much better, lots more willing to rev from low revs, and doesn't tend to run out of puff in 6th as easily.

    Can't wait for the remap.

bad news on the fan.....do you think warranty will cover it? (is under 3 years isnt it?)

are you getting a before and after RR session with your remap?

The aircon still works, and the fan is now more secure that it ever would have been with the standard clips, so I'm not fussed. I'm pretty sure if the dealers started messing with the aircon it'd never work properly ever again.

I have a rolling road printout of the car totally standard, and I'll be getting a before/after dyno run during the remap. Still a few tweaks to sort before the remap - airbox mods, filter, EGR blanking, etc.

Oh yeah, if anyone needs a perfectly functioning precat for a 1.9CDTi give me a shout.

IM glad you're happy with the de-cap pipe Andy

They're a right barsteward to fit (as you now know), but the gains are worthwhile

Once DTUK is affiliated with AOC ill post details of the various offers available to AOC club members including the magnex exhausts etc..
