Standard alarm just disables the starter circuit so if the cars running it wont affect it.

I have a cheap £35 turbo timer on mine and its fine.

The alarm does not disable the starter the car has a software lock immobiliser and that is controlled by a separate unit

Didnt understand what you just said.

When I arm my alarm and walk away my car continues to run without the key in the ignition.

Yep correct, the software lock is disabled once the car is started with the wright key,What i am saying is that you will not be able to lock the car as the standard safety feature is enabled on the factory alarm not allowing you to lock the door with the ignition on, HTH
