    ACT VS Golf 2.0GTi

Someone at work is bragging that his 2.0 GTi Turbo will kill my ACT.

It is the model with flappy padle gearchange 2005 model. Thing is I am not into racing on public roads so want to know what you guys think. I have looked at parkers & the figures look pretty similar on both cars but I am sure the golf will weigh more being a fat lump & all.

It would make a fool of an ACT round corners tbh. In a straight line it should win, but not by much - both are around 200 ponies as std.

The DSG box is actually faster than the manual iirc as it changes gear in the blink of an eye.

The Mk5 GTi is a very, very good car. I'd be surprised if a standard ACT could keep up, and the VXR struggles against the GTi.

there is no straight answer to this one realy, BUT i would still put my money on the golf as i have had dealings with these types of gearbox's and they are (in real conditions) quicker than a manual.

Oh well I have to think I paid less than 6k for my 2003 ACT & his 2005 Golf was £16000 with nearly the same mileage!

Struggles in that it's got 40hp more but really isn't any quicker on the road.

but you could say that about the golf (remapping).i think you either have to compare both as standard or both tuned. my nans mini would spunk all over a gti if she dropped two r1 engines in it!but that wouldn't really be a fair comparison...
