    Door hinge thingy??!

The hinge part on the drivers door that prevents the door from closing all the way has stopped working on my car. (The bit that kind of stops the door half way, you can feel it sort of "lock in")

Its getting annoying now because the door always tries to chop my leg off when i get into the car!!!

Anybody know how to fix it?

I took it off and tried but i think there is a certain way its meant to fit in so it works.

It just doesn't stop the door from moving, it closes on top of my feet the whole time.

It feels very loose, as in it can shake around where it goes into the door. I tried taking it off and putting it back on but it feels like there is a certain way to put it in so it works.

I dont think its broken or anything

sounds like one of the two "squeezer" things on top and underneath the main bar might have gone, i doubt it'd cost much to get one off a scrapyard.

the main metal bar goes into a square hole at the entrance to the square hole there are two spring loaded "squeezer" things above and below the metal bar which hold the metal bar in place when the doors in the right position.
have a look at the door on the otherside and see if you can see a difference.
from memory i think itd be a pain in the backside to try and repair the actual unit itself, a decent scrapyard shouldn't charge much for one

Yeah I seem to be missing a small black circular plastic bit, I compared with the passenger door
