    Question Where do you...

    Jack your astra up?

Bit of an odd question as I need to jack my car up and put it up on a pair of axle stands, but other than the specified jack points on the sills I don't know where else to jack it up from!

    Its a mk4 astra

My friend said on the rear, to jack it up on the rear suspension, as there is a flat plate on there, and then put the axle stands on the jack points I didn't really want to chance it though

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated

I just use a trolley jack on the rear beam. Put your car in gear with a couple of chocks in front of the front wheels and jack it up in the middle of the beam.

the main beam is not designed to take the whole weight of the car, when you jack it up you can see the beam flex. you would jack it up one side at a time at the main pivot point on the rear.

Where is the Pivot point if you don't mind me asking? is it the specified Jack point?

Sorry about all these questions, I just don't want to break my car in anyway!

The red dots indicate where I have used to jack up before now. All of the red dots as far as I'm concerned are fine for jacking up, and placing axle stands there. However I wouldn't use the very front one unless you really have to.

depends on what i'm doing. I have an inclined drive so i normally pull the car over the edge of the drive and jack it up there. Changed a fair few exhausts over at the top of my driveway.

Bye bye VXR Castle Combe Edition - because it's done more laps of Castle Combe than most Bergs have of the Ring
