    Adjusting Trip Computer Display

I have got a new 08 Mk5 Astra SRri 1.9CDTi(150). This model has a monochrome multifunction display with a trip computer which displays range, average fuel consumption and instant fuel consumption. Trouble is, I find the instant fuel consumption figure distracting because it fluctuates wildly between 0 and 999! I end up glancing at it every few seconds! Is there any way of turning off the trip computer entirely? When the car is turned off the display (very) briefly reverts to a simple temperature and time display, a bit like the Mk4 Astra. This would be ideal for everyday use. Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the display or will it always show the fuel consumption stats? The manual is no help at all.

Why not have it display the radio info instead? Or, go into the trip computer section and look at the overal figures which don't change so much.

I always have mine showing instant, it helps me drive more efficiently. Maybe you should try and get used to it.
