After clocking up over 350miles in the VXR i decided it was time to give it a once over. Started nice and early this morning at 8.30. The overnight rain had beaded nicely on the Sonax VXR wax the valeter at the dealers had put on.
Also noticed a giant bird (maybe a dinosaur) had dropped one on the car
(as promised to measorpaul)
So then I foamed the car using 1inch snow foam and 1/2inch CG Maxi Suds II
Rinsed off after 15 minutes then foamed again using 1inch snow foam, 1 inch CG Maxi Suds II and 1inch Megs NXT wash and worked it in with a sonus lambswool wash mitt, rinsing off after.
Then came claying. For this I used the new polyclay from Clean Your Car, with some cold water with a drop of NXT wash for lube. This is an awesome clay, although not a lot came off the car as 10 weeks ago it wasn't built.
After the claying I foamed the car again with the remaining mix and worked it in with the mitt before rinsing. Then I cleaned the wheels using CG Premium Blue Wheel Cleaner and a Zymol wheel brush, and rinsed them off.
Then the car was dried with a Sonus Der Wunder Drying Towel before being masked up.
After talking to vxrmarc about products a few weeks ago, I broke out a new one for me. Zymol HD Cleanse. I wholesomely agree with Marc when he says everyone should use it at least once. It really brought the red though and gave the car some good depth. (and it smells of chocolate vodka shots )
Then I broke out the wax. I was undecided for a long time on whether to use Collinite 476s or Poorboy's World Natty's Red. I bought some Dodo Juice Doublewax the other day and am waiting delivery of it so I decided that I may aswell use Natty's red to get the depth and gloss.
Wheels were treated to Poorboy's Wheel Sealant, which really brought the metallic paint through
The car was then unmasked and the windows done with Megs NXT Glass Cleaner, then Rain-x'd. The interior was done with Poorboy's Natural Look Dressing, and the leather given the Gliptone treatment. The tyres were given a lick of Megs Endurance High Gloss Tyre Gel (best stuff on the market IMO).
As always, opinions welcome
