    comped out on ebay

i finally ordered a front grill for my mk4, but being a bit hard up i got a second hand one from ebay that was supposedly in good nick.

i recieved it today and it looks to have damage to the spray finish on both left and right sides. would it be forseeable to get it refurbed?

im ina bit of a pickle,as the seller stated i would be sent the grill as in the pictures, but you couldnt see the damage in the pics, and while he mentioned another slight cosmetic mark (which is of no concern) he neglected to mention this, so obviously im a bit po'd!

heres a pic of the damage.

been wanting a grill for ages,so naturally im pretty pi$$ed about this, but not sure i want to go through a load of ebay hassle, so would this be economically fixable?

i might have to try squeeze a refund out of him, becaues i have a feeling that it would end up costing more than i paid for the grill to get it fixed (got it for 50 quid).

if i dont get any ebay joy,i might just say screw it and fit it as is,until i can afford a new one.

this is deffo the last stress i needed on my mind right now, such is life!!

i did pay by paypal, but hes already left me positive feedback,so i may be able to geta bit of leverage and settle it with him personally. ive done a lot of ebay buying and selling, and this is the first time ive had issues, but it goes with the territory i guess.

m8 its only a wee bit of paint.

if seller has not stated the damage then ask him for a refund or compensation.

if you keep it then buy a tin of spray paint and some sand paper. £10 at most to repair yourself

ive decided to leave it be,as 2 hours of ebay msg tennis is really starting to grind me down. this month is stressful enough for me already without mucking about with ebay refunds and cagey sellers. it turns out the item was damaged in transit,so with the royal mail involved i may not see a refund for another cpl weeks.

so,onto my next question,as im going to basically attempt this refurb myself, should i rub down the local area where the damage is,and try to spot-spray the damage? or do i rub down the whole thing and spray it.

its an irmscher grill, the sprayed paint finish seems slightly textured, with little bumps in it... am i going to be able to achieve a similar effect,or just a patch up job?

on the plus side, its about time i learnt how to spray,so this might turn out to be a worthwhile turn of events.

to me it sounds like it was sprayed buy the previous owner.. from what i can remember i didnt think they came painted in the first place (but i could be completely wrong there)

if it was me then i would rub it all down and use fome filler primer to smooth out the texture efferct then give it a spray of black, or what ever you like?!

if its a genuine Irmscher grille they come standard with a layer of black textured paint over them
