Loose wire somwhere mate, is it all the sound that goes? or just the sub?

the vibrations could be causing it to skip the disk, or to make a wire bounce on and off its connections

if it still woprk occasionally itscant be the fuse, it just plain won't work.

Try checking the power cable from th battery all the way to the amp.
Check the earth and remote cable, then even check the RCA's in the amp AND in the back of the headunit.

    You never know!
