    engine bay cleaning

    any tips? what do you do?

    I'm looking at cleaning the entirely of the engine bay, but for the next day or so I'm looking at cleaning all the oil/crap/grease/shit off the plastic engine cover so I can spray it..

    All I know mate is to cover the electrics, I anit washed mine either, but looking for tips as well

    I usually give it a rinse with the karcher, then soak it in Meg's All Purpose cleaner (available in bulk from www.cleanyourcar.co.uk) and get a brush and work it in, then rinse off and go over the metal bits with either megs all metal polysh or some Autosol

    will megs APC get off all the oil and crap from the plastic engine cover? or would I be best off using a simple degreaser first? i don't want to use anything that could leave a residue that would react with the paint

    engine gunk gets everything off, jus cover the usual electrics up and try keep the car running well you rinse with a power washer try get some1 to sit in it and keep the revs up lol

    Take the battery out. Remove the airbox and intake and work on them indoors. I'd use a mild degreaser or maybe AG tardis. For finish use 303 on the plastics. If you find anything broken or bare wires / casing broken then get out the black electrical tape as it makes a hell of a difference.

    ma mates got a steam cleaner, he uses that, covers electrics first, comes up a treat

    Shit loadsa gunk and some rag

    Then regular car washy style mix with an old sponge / rag for small area's then rinse n dry
