As GM own Saab and Vauxhall. I don't see it being too long before the Vectras or Insignia's get the engine followed by the Astra.

    Thoughts?

    they're expensive arent they?

i see what you mean about the gm saab thing, but i dont think they would be ported over, as saabs are a lot more prestigious apparantly

i think we'd hear a lot of this:

"good god man, you're telling me my new 30 grand saab has a vauxhall engine???"

Observe the masses and do the opposite

a few of the engines are already very similar if not the same between them, cant see it being long before they are in the vauxhalls,

then 5 years later probably in the next lot of chevrolets

Saabs have had vectra engines for a while haven't they? I have driven the pre facelift 9-3 hot aero turbo jobbie and it can move and was very very comfy, I quite like Saabs.

A Saab 9.3 has a Cav M3 front end and vice versa... share subframes, struts and the turbo spec brakes are also a common part. Most V6 parts are common too, the 9.5 is a Vectra back end and alot of switchgear and components are shared. Its not new news... these days parts and designs are swapped between manufacturers, look at the Agila/Wagon R or Movano/Master. Aston use a Volvo key fob, Jaguars use a load of Ford parts. Nissan Micras use Renaults 1.5DCi engine and their 2.5DCi appears in Navaras as well as Trafics. Hell the TVR Griffith 500 has Cavalier M3 rear lights and switchgear.

Dunno what you're buying these days, and all to save costs...

Aparently so. Also the new 2.9V6 250 bhp diesel lump. The current saab 93 shares the same platform as the current vectra. Same engine, gear box, suspension the lot. Its essentially the same car. The 1.9 TTdi is aparently going to make the new vectra/insignia along with the 4x4 (I hope) after gm bought scooby. Its where they got the 4x4 system from.
