    Respraying the centre console.

    Hey everyone!

Ive dicided to take out the centre console and give it a respray as its getting abit tatty.

Could someone give me a quick run though of the prosedure needed when respraying it? The products needed would also be a great help!

Also is there any type of paint that is quite hardy and not just peel of like the current stuff?

Also if someone would be able to tell me the color of the console at the moment that would be excellent. Im trying to match it as close as possible.

Heres a picture of it (bit of a dodgey angle)

Check the how to's for a guide on spraying plastics.

The colour looks like it is the turbo coupe centre console, so is gun metal grey, but not sure on the exact colour code etc.

wash it in soapy water, allow to dry.rough it up with wire wool or a brillo pad.you can get the colours from halfords and they tell u what primer and laquer u should use.prime it first and dry for 24hours,spray paint and allow to dry for 24 hours, laquer it and again dry for 24 hours in a dust free ventilated place.it will peel if u dont let it dry the full time.thats howi did mine.

How do I remove the parts around the handbrake and gear nob?

The guide only tell you how to remove the centre console upto the ash tray.

the curved bit under the handbrake lifts out (top out first), when thats out there are two screws in the gear lever surround i think it then comes out, if not take out the thin plastic bit under the ashtray by lifting it then there may be some more screws holding the gearknob in.
