    supercharging a z18ze

Hi folks been offered a bmw mini
    satndard s/charger for about £75
just wondering would it be possible
for me to fit it to my z18xe coupe ?
I'm not after silly power but a boost
would be nice like the diblas turbo kits
would still like the intervals to be standard
but car re-maped with charger n mods
like remus exhaust and veccy air box
    mod.
I just prefer the sounds of a charger to
turbos and would love it if I could

Your in for a whole world of issues.

First of all the compression on the engine would be too much so you'd have to get some custom pistons with probably uprated conrods to boot.
I'd also be wanting to put some new cams in there as well to help the engine breath. You'd also need a performance manifold & CAT and exhaust to deal with the air through put.

Plus you may have to loose your Aircon.

compression.. you cud do it with thicker head gasket, but the bottom end would have to be mega strong... boost on engines not designed for it is always gna cause problems.. also the charger is small in your hands, but try and find a place to locate it under the bonet.. theres not much room there!..

It can be done but it's a tight fit.

Having a custom inlet manifold made up would be the easiest route and bolting the charger directly onto it.

If you have the pully's correctly sized to run 6-7 psi you'll be OK on standard piston's.

The fuel system's the biggest bugger, you'll need to get a custom made rail, a rising rate FPR and the fuel line's from a petrol astra with a return line, or you just run one yourself.

Load's of thing's to consider but if you've got a few grand behind you it could be done and as Chris say's it's definettly not a small bit of kit.

I investigated this not so long ago but i gave up on it and went the ITB route instead, the charger may still go on tho
