jcastraDTi's Astra 2.0 DTi SRi Mod Diary

I guessed i better start one of these as i never did one for my last astra.

Following an accident in December 2007, my Astra 1.7 DTi ECO4 ended up in the scrap heap in the sky....

    Pics before....

    Pics after...

My last one didnt have many mods (apart from an irmy front bumper which got destroyed!) but i did put in tinted headlights, HID's (a must have!), irmscher arm rest, 17" alloys, 60/40 lowered and a ICE including boot install, ipod kit etc.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

After searching for what seemed an eternity for another 1.7 DTi or a 2.0 DTi in my area nothing was turning up....
In January 2008 i became the new owner of a 2003 Astra 2.0 DTi SRi (after a flight to Leeds and 250 mile drive home!)

Few pics from the person i bought it off...

Had 62k on the clock, full service history and obviously SRi spec (sports seats, electric windows and mirrors, cruise control etc.) and got it for £3,950 (around £1000 below book).

    Mods Planned:

New HID Kit (bought needs to be fitted)
Full SRi Turbo Prodrive Kit (Front Bumper, Rear Splitter, Side Skirts and Turbo Alloys)
    Tuning Box

After having HID's on my old car before the accident it was like having candles upfront!
Managed to get a set from a member off here and had a spare half hour at work today so fitted them... Heres some pics.

    Before HID....

    One HID kit fitted...

    Complete!

Definitly a worthwhile upgrade.. this is a 8000k kit but looking at pics of my last car is not a lot different to my old 6000k kit.

Next to do is main beam and fogs

Got bored on Easter Sunday so it got....

Wind Deflectors - Had them fitted to my last car and really liked the way they looked so they got re-fitted.

I also had a box in the garage which had been there for a good 6 months and never got fitted to the last car, so decided to take the plunge... so out with the old...

    And in with the new......

    And the results!!

Still has to settle yet but the handling is now so much better, sticks to the road like glue! Was meant to be a -40mm progressive shocks and springs kit, i'm not sure! The standard suspension was meant to be -20mm standard and it looks as thou its taken another 40mm off that.

Rolling Road Session - Interpro, Bristol

Was very shocked today when my car reached 115bhp and just over 200 sq/ft lb torque

    Heres the graph...

    Heres a vid...

Just trying to decide on which tuning box to go for now....

Prodrive Front is now on... Had to make a set of brackets to fit the fogs as vauxhall can no longer get them as everything prodrive is now out of production.

Really like the look to it.. just need to get hold of the Side Skirts and Rear Bumper extension to match now..

Well a bit of an update seems ive not done it for coming up to a year!

The car now has the full SRi-T Bodykit including the side skirts and rear valance. (cant find any pics but will put them up shortly!)

Also fitted HID's into every possible front light... Dipped, Main and Fogs

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

After taking a show deal at PVS 2009, the car has now been to Regal for a remap (after a second trip to get it right ) and is running 124bhp and 215 sq/ft lb of torque. (Will post up pic of RR graph shortly)
The figure and graph ive posted up before in this thread proved to be wrong as their Rolling Road was broken and the car was its standard 95bhp and 155 sq/ft lb of torque so the map has made one hell of a difference. Went for a map over a tuning box as they give better results and are less expensive.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

New wheels are being refubished as we speak and will complete the external SRi-T theme
I now need a couple of interior bits just to finish it off then a few bodywork bits repainted ready for next show season

Update in a weeks time with new pictures
